Many of our students are the first in their families to study at university, and it’s with your help that more Indigenous Australians are able to receive a tertiary education.
One of the top reasons that Indigenous students drop out of university is due to financial pressures but with your help, the Mary MacKillop Foundation scholarships provide financial assistance to ensure more Indigenous Australians receive the support they need to pursue tertiary studies.
In 2017, we celebrated reaching our first 100 graduates and we’re proud to announce that a further 24 students are now the recipients of a Mary MacKillop Foundation Indigenous Tertiary Scholarship in 2018!
It’s our mission to end the disparity of access to education for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.
Like Mary, we believe education is the foundation for a fulfilling life and we can see the difference it is making to, not only our students, but Australian families and communities.

We rely on generous donations to fund our Indigenous Tertiary Scholarships Program – as well as our Community Grants Program which supports small education-based projects – to help and empower vulnerable and marginalised Australians, whom may otherwise miss out.
Thank you for putting your faith in Mary’s work and giving generously to help us create opportunities for those in need. Over the past 20 years, The Foundation has supported more than 688 community projects and it’s currently partnering with 22 projects in 2018. The Foundation has also supported 122 Indigenous students to complete their tertiary qualifications and is currently supporting 93 students in their tertiary studies.
